I've a Sansa 8GB v2, and find it "acceptable" - it's almost indestructible (dropped on concrete a few times and even dragged behind my bike for a few metres and it only turned off), and battery life is great, but I have a few gripes:

- No album shuffle; I have to emulate by "play all" albums, turn on shuffle, skip once, turn off shuffle. I've enough that that's roughly the same.

- Every time I charge, it loses position: merely plugging into USB sometimes refreshes the library and /always/ drops the play state.

- Lack of foreign character support; it just renders ? and renders it slow enough to lag the scrolling.

- Lack of artist name grouping - I've got so much music that it's impossible to skip to, say, an artist beginning with 'L'.
